Nordic recently delivered 3 Nordic N1000s to wind farm operators Nuevo Manantial to join their fleet of 16 existing 2 blade machines. The wind farm is located near the city of Rocha in Uruguay which is about 240km up the coast from the capital Montevideo. Nuevo Manantial sought out Nordic’s 2 blade machines after having good successes with the purchase of the 16 refurbished Nedwind machines. The existing machines were 12 x 500kW machines and 4 x 1MW. With the addition of Nordic’s 3 N1000s Nuevo Manantial will have a combined capacity of 13MW. The growth of wind power and other renewables is very important to stabilizing the independence of the grid in Uruguay which is currently heavily dependent on outside resources during the dry months of the year when their hydro generation plants do not run.
